HIPAA and HITECH Compliance For HR
In this session, we will examine the regulatory and operational impacts of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act) on organizations with a focus on self-insured group health plans. We will provide an overview of the regulations and applicability to the various plan types, as well as answer the following questions:
- When do employers have exposure to HIPAA and HITECH?
- When do the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules apply to employers?
- How should self-insured group health plans and their sponsors secure and protect employee personal health information?
