Welcome to Bayou SHRM

Dear Bayou SHRM Members,

During these difficult times more than ever we realize the importance of our chosen field to the companies and employees we serve.

With all the recent developments regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic including legislation, the challenges for companies and HR professionals are many. The Bayou SHRM is committed to providing important information to all our valued members and the business community as well.

Please visit our website for all things COVID-19 including sample forms, webinars from our trusted SHRM chapters across the state, Louisiana SHRM, links to SHRM National, government sites, and links to pre-recorded as well as upcoming webinars.

We will continue to follow social distancing rules; therefore, our May and June meetings will be webinars via Zoom FREE to all Bayou SHRM members and $15 for non-members. If you have pre-paid for all the 2020 meetings, you will receive a discount for the virtual meetings that will be applied to the fee for the Annual Conference.

We would like to extend our gratitude to our District Director, Kelly Huben, Louisiana SHRM, NOLA SHRM and NSHRM for all your support and guidance and a special thanks to Rod Nunez from USI for all the support you provide the Bayou SHRM. We couldn’t be prouder to be a part of such an amazing community of HR professionals across the state.

I am proud to serve you and on behalf of the Board of Directors we thank you for your trust and we are working diligently to provide resources that will guide us during this rapidly changing environment.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions and /or comments-we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to email us @

Welcome all to the Bayou SHRM.

It is my honor and pleasure to serve as the 2020-2021 Chapter President. Whether you’re a visitor, a new member, or a long-standing member, we want the Bayou SHRM to be your first stop for all things related to Human Resources in the Bayou Region.

It is our objective to fulfill the needs of our membership through education and networking. This year you can anticipate a variety of topics to satisfy the needs of our diverse membership. In addition to our monthly meetings, we will host a Conference in August and will have several networking/social after -hours events.

We will offer a variety of relevant and pressing topics for 2020:

  • Julie Couret will be presenting on Coaching with a Purpose for our February meeting.
  • We will be discussing the important topic of Culture during our March meeting at the Danos Corporate Headquarters presented by our own Stacey Gisclair VP of HR at Danos.
  • We will learn about HIPPA Compliance, employee investigations, Diversity and Inclusion, how to be strategic about our benefits, workforce readiness and much more!
  • We will have our annual Conference in August sponsored and presented by Fisher and Phillips.

Be sure to check out the Meetings & Events tab for all the details. We will have the schedule of events ready for your review by February 2020.

Our goal is to better serve our memberships, engage the community and become the authority in all things HR in the Bayou Region. Some of our initiatives for the upcoming period:

I encourage you to get involved .We are in need of volunteers who are excited and passionate about all things HR. We need volunteerism in order to achieve our goals, see our ideas come into fruition while networking and learning more about this profession we love. Start small!

On behalf of the entire Bayou SHRM board, I invite you to engage with us through our social media links, to come to a monthly meeting as a guest or most importantly-- join our organization as a member.
