Topic: What does it take to be a female leader in the wake of #MeToo?

This presentation will be focused on being a female leader in a male dominated field. The key to success and navigating through #MeToo.

Kristine Russell was born and raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana.  She graduated from Edward Douglas White High School, Nicholls State University, and Louisiana State Paul M. Hebert Law Center.  Following her graduation from law school, Kristine began working with the law firm of Morvant and Cavell.  Her practice focused on insurance defense and family law.  In 1999, Kristine opened her own law practice and continued to work mainly in the area of family law.  In 2000, she became an adjunct professor at Nicholls State University where she taught family law for 8 years. 

In 2003, Kristine was hired by the newly elected District Attorney, Camille Morvant II, as an assistant district attorney.   Since 2003, she has handled juvenile cases, misdemeanor cases and felony cases and was part of the prosecution team on two death penalty cases.

In 2005, Kristine along with Mr. Morvant began the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lafourche and she is the Director of the Center.  

In 2012, Kristine was named the First Assistant District Attorney for the Parish of Lafourche and on March 24, 2018, she was elected District Attorney for the Parish of Lafourche.  She is one of only 4 female District Attorneys in the State of Louisiana.

Kristine is the Vice-President of Hi-5, Inc., a non-profit mentoring group in Thibodaux.  She is married to Blaine Russell and they have two children, Tate and Natalie.
